  1. Refractometer:

Refractometer is an instrument used to measure the concentration of substance within a liquid or water. Just by taking few drops of solution, it can tell you about its components effortlessly.

  • It helps in determining a sample’s identification by comparing it with previously known sample values.
  • By comparing with the refractive index of pure substance, it determines the current sample’s purity.

  1. TDS meter:

TDS meter is used to measure total dissolved salts present in water. It indicates the amount of organic and inorganic materials dissolved in water. TDS meters do not measure contaminants that are present in water.

  • TDS meter helps to maintain water with right amount of total dissolved salts (TDS) for our usage.
  • Water having high levels of magnesium and calcium is known as hard water. This hard water gets collected in pipes and results in corrosion. This results in replacement of expensive pipes. So, it is a good practice to check TDS level of water before using it.
